Manifesto
Software is a promise made to the people who use it.
These ten commitments shape every project we take on, from the first conversation to the last line of code. We publish them so you can hold us to them.
People before platforms.
We start with the people who do the work, not with a technology we would like to sell. A tool is only good if it fits the hands that use it on a busy Monday morning.
Watch the work, not the org chart.
Processes on paper and processes in real life are rarely the same. The sticky note on the monitor, the private spreadsheet, the colleague everyone phones: that is where the real requirements live, so that is where we look first.
Write it down before we build it.
Every project starts with a written blueprint: what we will build, for whom, and why. If we cannot describe it clearly, we are not ready to build it.
A price is a promise.
We agree a fixed price before work begins and change it only with your written approval. Uncertainty is our job to manage, not yours to pay for.
Machines take the drudgery. People keep the judgement.
AI is excellent at sorting, drafting and checking. It should not decide who is hired, who gets credit or who is believed. Every AI feature we build can be checked, corrected or switched off.
Say where the machine is.
The people using our software, and the people affected by it, deserve to know when AI is involved and what it does. We tell you how we use AI in our own work, too.
Your data is not our raw material.
We collect as little as possible, keep it in the UK or EU wherever we can, and never use personal data to train AI tools.
Boring technology, full ownership.
We choose mainstream, well-supported tools that any competent developer can maintain. The code, the documentation and the data are yours. Leaving us should be easy.
Small on purpose.
You speak to the people who build your software. We take on only the work we can do properly, and we would rather finish fewer projects well than many projects late.
An honest no is a service.
Sometimes the answer is a better spreadsheet, a simpler process, or a different supplier. When software, AI or Ovysion is not the right answer, we will say so.
Hold us to it
If we ever fall short of these commitments, tell us. What we ask of ourselves, you are entitled to ask of us.
